The wood is a golden reddish brown with medium to high luster, generally straight-grained, easy to work, glues without difficulty and holds nails well. Accepts fine finishes readily, presenting a highly prized Genuine Mahogany finish.

Caobilla Mahogany is an excellent and affordable alternative to Genuine Mahogany & African Mahogany. It works easily with both hand and machine tools and produces a good finish, glues well; cuts well into veneers. Its uses range similarly to Genuine Mahogany such as Veneer and plywood, particleboard and fiberboard, furniture components, boxes and crates, light construction, general carpentry, and Fine Millwork. On drying and exposure, heartwood becomes a golden brown or deep reddish brown; sapwood cream to tan color, not always sharply demarcated. Luster low to medium; texture rather coarse; grain straight; without distinctive odor or taste, truly a fine alternative to Genuine Mahogany finishes. South American White Banak-Cedro is an excellent substitute for traditional Spanish Cedar/ Banak. Certain Countries also refer to it as White Banak. It is similar in appearance and properties to Banak/Spanish Cedar, except lighter in color. It stains very well and you do not need to pre-condition it as you do light domestics. This Exotic Lumber is an excellent source for Fine Millwork such as Cabinetry, Doors, Mouldings and other Milled Products. Lengths to this product are limited to 8-12 feet long. This lumber is similar and great alternative to Banak/Spanish Cedar & Domestic light woods such as Soft Maple & White Ash. This Exotic wood weathers good overall for exterior use.
